I don't usually post this many photos at one time so I hope you will excuse me this one time. I viewed an extrordinary event today on Honeymoon Island. What I believe to be the mateing of a pair of Great Horned Owls. Truely amazing, especially in the wild. I hope you enjoy this series.
By the way if you all think it is in bad taste I will take it down.

Great series, hey we are bird people, we know what birds and bees do! I like the two last frames as they both take a turn winking at you ;)

Thank you Mitch. I heard the male answering the female and luckily he was behind me. So when I turned around he was ready to take off.

Thank you Steve. I was thrilled to capture this series even if they were so backlit.

IMO, could use some selective PP to bring out the owls just a little more and maybe a little more saturation (which #1 looks like it already has...)but, as for the subject and the quality (focus and framing) of the shots...WOW!!!

Thank you FlyingPhotog. The first photo the owl was flying toward the sunset so I had much better light. In the remainng photos the owls had the sunset behind them. I wish I was better at pp and I always have such trouble with backlighting. It was exciting to capture this and thanks for the encouragment.

Wonderful series MDoc. I've been fortunate to photograph a pair raising their young but I've never seen them mating. Congratulations.

Great series MDoc, being at the right place at the right time provided you with a rare opportunity. My favorite would be the last, look like he's giving you a wink.

Thank you Stephen and kevin. I know I was really lucky to be there at just the right time. I found the female right off but I could not get a good shot. After i came back about 5pm she was still there but no sign of him. Then she started calling out, he answered I turned around and there he was hidden in a pine back behind me. I turn and snapped a few shots and he took off flying toward her. Lucky, yep, I'm alot more lucky than good :)
