A couple of weeks ago I invited a few members of SQC out for some photos under the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park, NYC. You guys remember this area best via the final fight scene in Men In Black. Anyways I get there around 2pm and take notice of the overcast sky, a perfect natural filter..sigh.

There is always a pretty decent police presence in the park so we figured we would only have a very short window to work with. The first few shots were rushed as a result:

Yes we pulled the STI's right into the park and parked them right under the sphere, understand why we were nervous? So eventually a cop does show up, but not just a cop..a Lieutenant.

I start to give him a line, but he just holds up his hand and tells me "It's cool take your pictures, just do me a favor and don't hang out with the cars on the brick afterward, because you technically aren't supposed to be on it." Whoa!!!

Thank You Lieutenant!!! We tried to get him to have his squad car in the pictures, but he said "Naw it's dirty guys, and I like a clean car...have a good day." He was damn cool!!! So armed with a free pass from the ranking officer on duty we pressed on:

A local had an RC STI, we thought it would be funny to get it in the pics with the real cars...

I have like 200 more pics, I am still processing, hence the title (series1). Anyways right before we wrapped another cop shows up, this time a beat cop (younger than me at that). He right away asks us "Do you guys have a permit?!?" We all say "The Lt. said we could take shots as long as we didn't stick around after." He says ok, then pulls off and busts a U turn and parks right there watching us. The Lt. circled back and called him over so his car wouldn't be facing us/harrasing us. Once again a most awesome Lt.

Hope you enjoyed them, more to come..

Good story!
Sorry, but IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow 8 embedded pics by the OP per thread, so I removed the IMG tags from the last ones. You can always just post a link to them, though.
