I was contemplating an A650, but now I'm eyeing the S5-IS. I had a S3-IS at one stage, and simply put.. I thought it was an excellent camera. The only thing I didn't like about it was the lens cap.
Question is, anyone use a 430 or 580EX with the camera? Any comments? Quirks? Also does the camera use the flash to AF-assist instead of the in-body AF-assist lamp?

I have a G6 and use the 420EX on it, it works great, it does not use the AF Assit of the flash but you can adjust the flash power by using the FEC in the camera, It is probaly the best thing I had ever bought for the G6

Well the AF-assist assists auto-focus, not metering - so I'm not really sure what you getting at with the FEC comment. Thanks anyway.

The 430EX's focus assist light will not fire with the S5. But I find that the S5's af assist light does a great job by itself.
I love how the flash saves me a lot of time when I shoot certain events like motorsports or car shows. I can zoom through getting all the shots I need with no delays waiting for the on board flash.
Here's one picture from the first time I used the S5 & 430 combo.
