Hey everyone, i stumbled across this forum and decided to post some pics! I use a Canon G2. I never thought i was really into photography til i realized i had no more space on a 40gb hard drive after owning the camera for less than a year! I just seem to enjoy capturing shots i think look great to me. These are some shots i took recently. Any opinions, advice, etc... (the third one has a little editing done)
Oh, and these shots are saved for the web, so its a bit lower in quality and size than what i save them as.

Number 3 is my favourite, very nice picture.
I like the angle on the first one, and like the lighting effect on the second, but feel that the backgrounds are too mundane/unpleasant to make them great pictures. Just my opinion.
what type of 944 is that? Is it yours?

The first wasn't set up for photos, it just happened to be there while at an event. A few others i took at the same location had nicer backgrounds, but i just couldnt get people to stop walking by! So a few look nice, but have like half a head or arm in them in the corner. (thats what happens when there is a real 550 spyder parked next to you...)
The other two are of my car. (seems to be a common item for me to shoot) Its a 1991 944 S2. Actually, i enjoy seeing exotic cars in strangely rundown, or city style backgrounds.

doh, just spotted your name, what a wally! thanks for the info, nice car, I looked into buying one once
I'm a beginner, but if you don't mind, here is some advice I read in a book or magazine sometime, I've never tried it but the theory seems sound:
if you want to stop people ruining your shots, and a tripod shot is possible, you can try using Tv mode with 30 seconds or whatever. Then, if people are moving quick enough, they will not appear in the shot at all.
as I say, I never tried it, but just thought I'd throw it in in case you hadn't heard of it before.

Wow, thats an interesting idea. Its something i would want to experiment with on my own before trying it on an actual subject!

Yeah that 30s technique is good when it's dark. It poses it's own problems when there's sunlight to be seen!
