EF 70-200mm f/4.0L reach

I am planning on starting to take pictures of Little League, Pee Wee football type sports. I currently have the EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM on my 300D. I like it but would like to upgrade. Will the EF 70-200mm f/4.0L with the 1.4x give me enough reach?? If I figured it right max zoom is 480mm vs 448mm. How much difference is that really??(other than 32mm) Thanks

I have that combination, and I think you will be so pleased with the image quality you won't notice any difference in focal length. Go for it.

I used my 70-200mm on the few occasions I shot Softball.
Near 1st base I had plent of reach to get really in on the home plate, picher and second base.

Third was still plenty close enough and the outfeild was fine too as long as you aren't looking for an close up :)
