Here is a resource for a GREAT G7/G9 grip kit at a very reasonable cost.

Uhh..it's all over this forum. It's definitely an essential to have.
I see that they now have the hot shoe cover! I gotta get that!

Nice! I have the grip, but just ordered the hot shoe cover.

Just installed my HSC this afternoon. Fits like a well made glove. As I do little flash photography, it will probably remain onboard for 99% of the time. I like the fact that the HS will remain covered and protected; especially if there is ever a day I, for some crazy reason, decide to sell my G9.
An interesting bonus too - it looks absolutely great. I've never liked the looks of the hot shoe. It just seems like an ugly appendage on what otherwise is a beautiful camera. Kind of like ears :-) (sorry, that's just my own warped feeling about facial appendages :-))
I actually got two HSCs; the other is on my 40D. Fits just as well on EOS cameras as it does on the G7/G9.

Looks like a sharp accessory to me. I may order-up a set for my G9.

I'm sorry but I fail to see the point in this. To protect the hotshoe? It's a piece of metal!

Then, by all means, you shouldn't get one. Personally, I like them. Ergo, I bought them.
I have a lens cover on everyone of my lenses also and they're just pieces of glass.
I keep my cameras in cases when not using them. And they're just bigger pieces of metal.
Hmmm. Maybe it's just me. I have 30 year old vinyl LPs that still look as good as the day I bought them. :-)

Richard does a nice job on his products, the best I've seen in 35 years of quality engineering!
The Hot Shoe Cover is great for when you carry your camera in your pocket, prevents snagging!

Indeed he does. Quality engineering has always amazed me and his is no exception.
Prevents snagging - yes, that too. It hasn't happened to me very often. But when it does, I about go into cardiac arrest when it feels like I'm going to drop the camera

The grip and thumbrest made my G9 a completely different camera. Very nice. I absolutely love how it feels now.
BTW, for those considering the Canon SC-DC55A case that wraps around the camera, it will still work even with the new grip attached to the G9. Seeing as it's leather, it will conform to the new shape as well. Don't hesitate, it's the best $27 or so dollars you can spend on your G9.

Definitely a different camera with the grip and thumb rest. I can actually shoot one handed now if I so desire. I had no confidence doing that before I added those two pieces.

Best G7 accessory out there hands down...or should I say hands on.

Is his site down? It keeps coming up as "404 - not found."

Try this:

Siegfried took down his old site and is starting fresh; different look, different philosophy (less manufacturer oriented and more photographic technique if I understood him correctly). Wonderful person with a lot to teach. Richard's accessories will still be showcased on Siegfried's site.

First and foremost, protection of the HS was Richard's motive. And, from what I am seeing, it will perform that job beautifully.
The HSC also has the added benefits of helping to prevent snagging the HS and also looking sharp. There will be some who put these reasons above the first. For whatever reasons, IMHO, I think the HSC is a great addition to my G9 and also my 40D.
