I have been frustrated with my Canon RC-1 remote control for my Rebel XT. It doesn't give me quite enough distance to get family group shots for our large family or extended family, it's usually just a couple feet short of working.

Interestingly enough my remote was able to fire my sister-in-law's Canon Elan 7E (I think that's what she has), but not my Rebel XT even though they were side-by-side on tripods at the same distance from our family group in the exact same shot, same person (me) holding the remote. My husband says it's obvious that the XT sensor was less sensitive than my sister-in-law's film camera.

Anyway, I was searching on this forum for ideas to give me more distance, and I came across this link:

Has anybody ever used this? Do you like it, and does it work reliably?

Also, the Rebel XT is on their list of cameras that it is compatible with; however, in their picture, they show the receiver thing actually plugged into the camera in the photo. I looked everywhere on my XT and couldn't find any corresponding connector hole for that transmitter to plug into. So how can it work, if my XT doesn't have this hole?

If anybody knows anything about this, or has any suggestions, I would appreciate it very much.

Look on the left of the camera; there's a rubber cover protecting Video Out, an E3 remote terminal, and a USB 2.0 port.

The receiver will plug into the E3 remote terminal.

I've got the Gadget Infinity remote for my 40D. The same model works on the 30D. It performs flawlessly, has great range, and means that I can keep my hands in my pockets on cold days while peering through the viewfinder. Since it's an RF remote, you don't even need line-of-sight to the camera to trigger it.

For the money, it's one of the best accessories I have for my camera. Shipping from Hong Kong to the US will take about 7-10 days.

Thank you VERY much, Gordon! I don't know why I didn't notice that little cover/ flap :o Based on what you have said, I think this is just what I need, and will be a good thing for me to get.

Thanks,

Jessica
