I was at the pool with my wife and 2 sons playing around with the camera (not in the pool), when I turned around this is what I saw, I thought the picture was worth a critique. This is my first attempt at a Black and white so let me know what you guys and gals think.

I like the shot. Maybe you could have lightened the mothers face just a bit to get more of the detail of where she is kissing the baby's head.
It is another one of those special moments between a parent and a child. It emits alot of emotion.

It's a very beautiful shot, and a great crop.
I like it, and I am sure your wife likes it as well. 8)

It's nice, good choice of B&W too.
The only thing I;d remove is that white "stripe" on the left. Looks like it's sticking out of the baby's head.

I like it. I think the B&W does a lot to hide the imperfections in her face.
I didn't notice the white line until mentioned. Now it does stick out.

I am a big fan of B&W--I really like it. I bet that will be a photo that is treasured when that baby is an oldster.
I took some photos of a friend's grandkids recently and printed copies of one that I thought turned out quite well, and made a good B&W. One of them said "I love that photo--but--why isn't there any color in it?"

The emotion is nicely captured, but the composition doesn't work for me.
The child's face and the mother's face compete for attention, and I find that once I get to the child's face I follow its gaze out of the picture to the left, helped along the way by the white line going in the same direction. Because of this I find that the image doesn't really hold my attention.
It is technically fine, nicely balanced and emotionaly touching though - a great keepsake...
Cheers,
Pete

Sorry, I can't think of anything to flame you about on this one. Perhaps just lighten the dark area near the kiss a little, but that is really minor. Excellent shot!!! I wish I had one like this of my wife and son!

I appreciate all the Responses, I have worked long and Hard on this Trying to remove the bar.......I couldn't get it to look right, I had to settle with toning it down. I would love to hear what you think and any tips you might have for me. Thanks to all of you.
