My husband got me this one (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/SmartParts-8-Digital-Picture-Frame-SP8MIX/sem/rpsm/oid/176853/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) for Valentines Day last year. It has great picture quality and is easy to use. It has software in the frame that resizes the pictures automatically. Another nice feature is that it has an internal memory that will store pictures and music, without having to use a memory card (unless you want to).

If you have an old laptop laying around you can build your own better than anything you can buy in a store

^lol yeah

That smartparts has good quality? We have those up in the store and it's eh...even the 11" one which was $80 for awhile. Sale.

I have a Photoco one that's not too bad I got for my mom. I didn't want to buy a cheap one but still cheap with decent quality and IMO smartparts did not have good quality.

I'm looking for one as a gift....but I've heard things about "native resolution" and such...
Some of the frames don't display the pictures in a size that is compatible with digital prints.... Or so I've been told...

Can someone please post what are some of the obvious things we should look for in picking out a new frame?

Thanks!

yeah - make your own. it's more fun and with the normal digital frame, you'll get bored after the first week.

here are pics i made of one about over 2 years ago using an old armada laptop

I did the same thing, I made mine out of a IBM 560x notebook, the thing is the board burned on it so I can't use it. I've been looking all over the pace to find it again so I can get it going. I loved the little project... I used CHERRY wood frame.
