I went into my new work today (a photography studio 8) )

I saw their D100, i picked it up...and started taking some pictures.

I loved how it felt. Felt like a real peice of nice camera.

What shocked me most was the FPS. Which i later looked up and was suprised to see that it was only 3.3fps.

2.5 to 3.3 really does make a big difference.

anways. Is this what one might expect from a 10/20D??

I dont know how to describe it, it just felt nice. Responsive ya know.

I know it, and what if i go 8fps with the 1D.

I'm pretty sure i'm gonna save for the 1D but it all depends on how much the 20Ds autofocus has improved.

Either way, 5fps, 8fps...yumm

The D100 is a fine camera. When the choice was D100 Vs. D60 it was a far more difficult decison IMHO...

Thankfully the 10D came along and changed all that. 8)

Yeah, the lady i was shooting alongside at the football game the other night was using the D100, when she asked what my max sync was and she replied that hers was less then mine. I felt proud to hold a canon :lol:

Anyways, i've heard it before, that nikon bodies just feel better. It's almost tighter or something. Even the way the CF door opened, i just liked it.

I wouldnt trade any amount of canon glass for nikon glass though. And i suspect the D20 may feel as good if not better.

All i'm basing this on is a consumer grade plastic 300D.

Oh yeah, some of us take pictures of butts, i like to take pictures of piles of photography equipment.

In a box behind there was an AE-1, just for honerable mention :lol:

I actually think my Rebel's 2.5 fps is pretty responsive.

................guess I'll be in for a good shock when that 20D arrives.

Like i said, it's hard to explain. Even based on the d70 reviews i like how the thing sounds.

I accidently took 2 shots and asked my g/f (who works there) "did i just take pictures?"

It just felt more like the typical film camera that most of us are use to.

Wrong move...D60 IS a better camera than D100! :P

Shutter responsiveness, buffer size, autofocus speed are more important than fps for my use.

Hi Timmy,

Yeah a responsive camera is nice, no doubt there but you also have to take into consideration all of the other factors relating to the camera. What the glass is like, how inovative the manufacturer is and how much bang you get for your buck. When I started around 8 years ago it Canon had the edge because of their glass and the new tech (Image stabilisation) that they were just starting to put into lenses. It seemed the way to go and to be honest I have never regretted the choice. From then till now Canon have stretched the gap between them and the other camera manufacturers. Yes 3.3 frames per sec is nice, 3.3 f/sec full frame and 11Mp is even nicer. In most cases it depends on which way you fall when you get your first camera, you get into a lens family and its just to expensive to change, well it is from this side of the fence. For some people it's to expensive not to change which is why we frequently see Nikon users asking about what canon lenses match the Nikon kit they are about to sell.

Do yourself a favour, never, ever, ever pick up a 1Ds. Its instant addiction and there is no cure (well I've not found one). The best comment ever...
