This is my first real catwalk-style shoot. It was shot with a 28mm f/1.8.
First half: 580EX on a cord to light.
After the intermission I used two flashes, a 580EX on camera, and wirelessly triggering a 430EX in my hand. Ratio 1:2 (580EX:430EX)
I learnt that lens flare is particularly bad when there is a spotlight pointing straight at me

Maybe it's just my eyes but they seem a little soft, especially around the eyes. Did you use any sharpening techniques after compressing them?

Lot-o-Canon in that room, that night.

LOL, Good effort. I'd like to see illustration of how that worked cuz I'm having a hard time telling what shots you did that on?
What camera where you shooting on? And what settings did you use, I'm interested.

Yes, they are a bit soft. Having a bright spotlight firing straight at you sort of makes it quite hard to focus on a moving target!

Haha, no I didn't have a 'setup' shot. Imagine me holding the camera with my right hand... and having my left hand, across my body, so that the flash is pointing away from me at 2 o'clock... :P
I am using a 40D, ISO800, 1/60s, f/3.5 prior to the intermission, and f/2.2 after.
(added signature to show my gear...)
f/2.2 is way too wide!

If you take the time to post some images, it's more easy to give specific C&C.
Some nice images.
I did come across a few ones were focus was on the BG instead of the model.

Certainly an interesting set. I think you did a good job on lighting after intermission but I am surprised about the sharpness. They also seem a bit noisey but that may just be the awkward spotlight thing.

Good on you for posting those shots.I offer a non technical view Tangcla.Theres a very isolated or if you like remote feeling,to a lot of the shots and the lighting is good sometimes too but i dunno, overall they did'nt connect for me.How do you feel about them?

I haven't stopped for long enough to really look at them :) but the important thing is that the client was happy with the results.
I know what you mean though... it was hard to get a really nice shot of how I imagined it to be - there were too many other photographers and the models literally walked within reach of me, so it's hard to really get some nice bokeh happening. At this range, the models were too close for some nice long-throw shots of the crowd, yet too far for nice depth of field.
