Im looking to get an image of our son put on canvas for my wife for christmas, iwould appreciate your thoughts on this image. I have been shooting mostly macro for the last 6 months and this is a new foray for me so any help would be greatly appreciated. 30D and Taron 90mm.

That pose made me smile! very cute! Lovely catch-light too.

Canvas prints are often square, I think this shot would especially benefit from a square crop, contrast/levels/bla bla. I'd have a go myself but my CS3 is playing up:(

I like everything except the eyes. The catchlights being dead center in the pupil give it a "deer caught in the headlights" look.

I would have avoided the flash and taken my chances on whatever catch-lights ensued.

The catchlights are so small you could just move them to 45 deg up and to one side.

I'd crop it closer and take out some of the distractions on the right side. But that's me.

Cute kid. Just a question, when "they" put the photo on canvas will the result be just as the picture you gave them? Will it look like an oil painting? I agree with AK to remove the distracting background. Good Luck

its a very cute kid and expression, and a nice flash photo. That much said, why not retake it in good light next to a window without flash? the lighting is flat and this could be a more engaging image.
