Hello everyone,

I am new to the site and have enjoyed reviewing threads and look forward to learning from you all! Right now I just have a kodak Z series P&S and have a Canon 40D on my christmas wishlist...

That's a beautiful shot! You've managed to make good use of depth of field despite the limitations of your camera. Bravo!

The most likely criticisms will be that you cut off her fingers and the b&w conversion could use a touch more contrast.

Welcome to POTN. What he said about the finger thing. Posing people is hard. I would turn her head or entire body slightly to her right to get rid of the harsh shadow from her nose. Beautiful model and keep posting.

thanks so far! Its my sister...she makes a great model for me! I didn't pose her really, which could be the problem :), just kept snapping!

I have Photoshop CS2 which is how I blurred background. How can I soften that shadow on her face from her nose. I need to take some classes, I have just been playing to learn.

You could possibly burn that to lighten the shadow but I have never had much luck with the burn tool. The simplest may be to clone stamp some of the check skin over the shadow.
