View Full Version : orhid and flower mantis nypth

when my ooth hatches in 3 weeks il have about 40 babys mayby..numbers are hard to say but what i do know is when they hatch they look same as this cause this is flower mantis nymph..i was sent 2 from a guy i know..

1st and 2nd pic is flower mantis nymphs..3rd pic is what they look like when there older..4th and 5th pis i my new one i got yesterday with the black ones..these are call orhid mantis..when there nymphs there bright orange with black eyes..then after 2nd star they get deap pink.as they get older they looks the pink and go pure white.the 1st pic u dont know how hard that was to get..its at 5:1 life size uncropped and he keepted moving..took me about half an hour just to get that 1 shot..and its still not perfectbest time to shoot them is when there eating or when there full to the brim on food..they sit still then.

these are all great shots! i love the flower mantis and the orchid mantis also. they are all so very different. it is amazing to me.

Nice set MJ, how about a shot of your complete setup?
ok il get one.i wouldn't call it a set up..lol..its just tabel with 15 x 1 pint cups with netting over them and sponge at bottom and 3 big tanks..and a strip light above them..nothing spiecal but i wil post a pic later on when i upload my pics.
