There is a thread about a grip kit for the G9 but the page with the information has expired. Can anyone give me information about this kit and where to get one?

Check out www.mycanong7.com for information about the grip and many other things.

Just fitted mine today and it transforms the camera IMO. A much better secure grip to the camera.

I used paypal to tecsol@comcast.net

Cost is $26 for grip and $4 for thumb rest delivered international

There is some info here

Well worth the money and more. It's a completely different feeling camera since I installed the grip and thumb rest. It feels much more secure when holding it and I can now shoot one handed if I so desire (no way I'd even try before).
I also installed the hot shoe cover. Not only does it protect the HS, it keeps it from snagging in your pocket if you carry it there (I do sometimes and it actually does keep it from grabbing your pocket fabric). And it looks good too. Covers that ugly HS :-)
And, just to make it all complete, I also added the black lens ring. Put that all together and it makes one sexy looking camera.

I've got everything but the black ring, and it's great stuff.

I am about to order but I am curious about what holds the grip and thumb rest on the camera body.

It's a sticky double tape kind of stuff that doesn't seem like it will hold anything but it's rock solid. Some people have taken their G9, including mine through some damp, humid, hot locations for several several hours and it did not budge.

You'll be fine.

Regarding the custom grip and what not, I'm ordering the new hotshoe cover too now. Ordering a second one as well for friends.

My Nikon P5000 came with one already fitted ;)

Doesn't shoot raw though  :)

I bought the complete kit from Richard, have installed the ring, grip, thumb rest and hot shoe cover. Pictures and a few words about them on my blog, http://lightdescription.blogspot.com.

My correspondence with Richard was through tecsol@comcast.net.

i found the place to order G9 grip here:
http://kleptography.com/rf/

and then i get interested in the lensmate adapter, it looks pretty awesome. I went to lensmate website and see that they charge like 30-40 USD for shipping :??? X(

so, where is the best place to get the grip, adapter and thumbrest altogether so i could save shipping :D

Patrick - you can order all of Richard's accessories by following the links on Don's site (Kleptography). Shipping within the US is only $3 USD and only slightly more if outside the US.

Do all these add ons add much weight/bulk to the camera? One of the reasons I have the g9 is go I don't have to carry the bulk/weight of my DSLR.........

Nah, a few grams. The grip is aluminum, as is the thumbrest, and the hotshoe cover is a plastic derivative.
