I'm interested in getting a flash.

I'm pretty satisfied with the stock flash that I have right now but I think there's something out there that will get me better results. I don't care about the price but right now I don't want to splurge and get a high-end equipment, I'm just looking for an entry one.

I'm looking for a flash that will brighten the photograph (night or day) but at the same time reduce the amount of fluorescent whiteness within it and one that will give a natural look to the picture.

Thanks.

a $90 vivitar will do it as will a $350 canon 580 II, granted there are many more features including ettl with the canon. It really comes down to how you use it that makes the bigger difference on image/lighting quality

this should also be moved to the lighting forum.

How about the Metz 54 mz?

The 430EX would be a good choice.

As for the "fluorescent whiteness", it's usually caused by overexposing the subject. Getting a more natural look is a matter of how you use the flash, not which model you get.

There is a learning curve, but it's worth the climb.
