Histogram Question

ok I have been taking a couple of pics and have been looking at the histogram . I have a graph that goes accross from dark to bright but in between I have a spike that goes off the graph a little is that good or bad?

Neither. The spikes just tell you that there are a lot of pixels in that tonal range. That's all.

The tricky part is getting the stuff at the right to the right.:)
