Question for the 100-400L Owners

How long is the lens when fully extended? :?:

Id like something with a little more reach, but id kinda like to know what im getting myself into :)

It's pretty long but more than manageable. You can download the specs on all canon lenses here:

That should give you the answer that you are looking for.

Thanks for the link, Ive checked out that chart, from what can see it shows it as 7.4"

That's got to be with it closed down to the 100mm mark ....
Opened up to the 400mm mark, it's probably closer to a foot .... although I haven't taken a tape measure to it .....

But, as ssim said, it's "more than manageable" .....

Extended, without hood, 11.25 inches.
With hood 14 inches.

Seems long, but it *is* quite manageable as other have said.
