s230 photo effects

My users manual says that I can use effects while im taking a photo. My camera only lets me change the effects when i'm in video mode though. Is this right or am I just doing something totally wrong?

You need to be in manual mode. While set to camera (shooting) mode, press the SET button, arrow to the right to highlight the symbol of a camera with an M. Press the SET button again. Now you should be able to select photo effects, ISO, WB, etc.. I hope this helps!
