Hello Everyone.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience using this combo for weddings as I'm thinking of upgrading to it, and it's all I can afford.

I would like to hear about peoples experience with the combo's pros and cons (speed, accuracy, color, contrast, etc...) vs possibly another combo, and perhaps some sample wedding pics.

Thank you in advance!

Sogog.

I've been shooting with a 20D, 30D, 17-55 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 and love it. 95% of my shots (and I think pretty much everyone here would agree) are taken with the 17-55. It's a great lens and there really aren't many/any cons. My only complaint is that I would like to have a bit more in the tele end sometimes, but then most of the time I can just take a step forward!

I think if you add a 50mm 1.4 to the mix you'll be fixed (for those darker moments when flash wont cut it).

I have a 30D for my second camera, I do not have a good wide angle, so I think the one you are asking about would be a good idea to have. I also agree with Radmad, but you have to be careful when shooting with a large appature so that all your subjects you want in focus are in focus. I do have the 50mm he is talking about for the same reason when it is a little dark. I have shot weddings up to 1600 ISO to try to deal with the dim lit lighting with great success..

This is going to be my next lens and hopefully will be in my bad before Christmas.

18 mm, 1/60 sec, f/2.8, ISO 1000

This lens paired with the 70-200/2.8L IS is gold!

Beautiful image cyberpet. I would like to ask you, is it worth getting this combo, or should I opt for a 5D (body only) with my current funds.

I would be using the 28-135 IS because I don't have any other lenses at the moment.

Thanks!

Sogog, wow, that's a tough question. The 17-55 is an EF-S lens, so it wouldn't work on the 5D, then your best bet would be (in my opinion) the 5D with the new 16-35/2.8L.

For me, I don't feel I need a FF camera yet. I'm happy with the 30D and hopefully the 40D (on paper it looks awesome). And even if I will go FF in the future, I plan on keeping at least one 1.6x crop body, just to be able to use the 17-55/2.8 IS lens. It *is* that good!

17-55 is an awesome wedding lens. 40D is an awesome body.

5D costs a lot but your pictures aren't going to be any better.
