I just finished a small write up on installing the Flash Foot One by Holly Enterprises on the Vivitar 285HV flash. Check it out...

And here's a similar write up on the install of a Flash Foot One on the Vivitar 283 flash by someone else...

A very nice write up and great photos.
One suggestion. Flash terminal polarity is more important than many realize. So, I would suggest that you indicate which wire to connect to which HH terminal. One HH terminal is wider than the other, it should get the negative wire soldered to it.

Could someone tell me if that foot got any connector to fire the flash? It looks like there's two slots on the front but they look more like a US household plug? Is that a power plug or sync connector? Or not a connection at all?

It is the relatively common sync connector called the household connector, also called the HH connector.
And yes it is very like a AC line connector.
But it this case it is a sync connection, not a power connection.

Ah, thanks. It seems overly bulky for such a simple connection. I have this foot on three 283's and seeing as the sync connector is not on the foot this mod seems a little overkill on that model. But if I wanted to mod some PC cables for this I would just use normal american household connectors?
