IS this any good im looking to buy a lens in the 500 range and I found some for that price... wondering if anyone has used it with there 300d DR, I understand this would actually be a 800mm due to the smaller Sensor "I think" just wondering if anyone has used it and could post a photo or at the very least some Thoughts about it thanks... And if this one sucks what would u recommend?

If possible.. I'd avoid this model and look to the Sigma 50-500mm as a better alternative.

Slow noisy AF.. it is an older design of Sigmas... I found the image quality to trail behind the newer 50-500mm EX lens.

I'll agree with CDS. Slow, noisy autofocus. That pretty much sums it up.

it's an older design - squeeky af that's sooooo slooooowwwww. if you are buying it at a shop, take your camera as most of them i've seen need to be rechipped - ERR 99!!!!. put it on yur body and make sure you stop it down and take a photo.
definitely get the 50-500 the image quality is pretty nice and the af is quick enough for me for shooting rugby league (http://www.pbase.com/image/31091168) photos 8)
