or

Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM Lens


notice one has III the second is II

im a noob

is this just a typo ?

im thinking of returning my 55mm-200mm for this one after reading some reviews the price is the same

they're almost the same, except one is newer than the other and one has been discontinued (the II)

If I had to make a wild guess, I would guess that the newer one (III) costs Canon less to manufacture than the old one (II).

Yes, it's not typo.

it's some kind of version number, just like 1D and 1D Mark II.
and actualy there's the fourth, that is 75-300 IS USM, the ones that incorporating the Image Stabilizer technology.
