I noticed a lot of people add rather simple looking but beautiful frames on their online photos. I'm guessing this is done in photoshop cs.. Now the only question left is "HOW!?"

It depends on what kind of frame You want? Maybe You could link to a specific photo then the poster or anyone else can tell You how the frame is done.

Something like this from the Rebel forum would be great.
Thank you!

That is a frame type I use myself it it is really easy to make. And if You record it as an action it is even faster to add the frame.
In the menu Image select Canvas Size
In the size box select pixels and enter the number pixels You want the first white frame to be. Enter the same number in both boxes.
Put a checkmark in the box "Relative"
Make sure anchor is in the center.
Select White as the canvas color
Click ok
Repeat above but the black outer frame but remember to change the canvas color to black.
How many pixels You should use as size is a matter of what You think look best. My frames are 2 pixels wide for the inner white frame and 30 pixels for the outer black frame.

Thanks tommykjensen for the info,
Can you show us a sample of a photo of yours so we can tell how big the 2 & 30 pixels are. Also, does the method you discriped works with PSE too.
Thanks

Yes it should work in PSE2 too, the option canvas size is in a submenu Resize under Image menu. I haven't tried it in PSE2 though.
Here is a sample photo of mine with this framing.

You can also change the settings to percent. I did this fram at 110% 100% being the photo and the extra 10% is the frame.

Frames can be fun to make, and you can be as creative with them as you are the pictures.

i have it saved as an action so it does all of the work automatically since all of my web images start out at either 450x300 or 300x450
its very easy, i expand the original canvase by 1 pixel all around with black background, then enlarge the canvas again by 10 pixels with a white background, then expand it again by 1 pixel all around and viola just add text and its done. i have all that in an action so once i get a stock image to one of those dimensions, i just run it and its done.

How do You add text at the same position with an action?

while the action is still recording, just add ur text and place it where u want it...
once u stop recording, the action will mimic everything u did including text and placement...

But what about portrait/landscape dimensions? Is the position recorded as absolute or relative ?

i create an action for each scenario. both landscape and portrait. then i just run the appropriate one...

Figuered that would be the case.
