My sister is looking for a digital camera for my mother, who honestly doesn't know how to turn on the computer or work a DVD player for that matter. :) She basically needs a camera which can take great pictures with little effort, take the card to Wal-Mart and select the prints she wants at the kiosk. Menus must be simple as hell to navigate since will still have to at least be able to review photos on the screen and wipe the card once she prints. Other than that, there is no need for any type of manual control, just needs to have some pretty smart auto settings and a good flash.
Before I owned a Rebel XTi I've owned a few point-and-shoots in the past including a Kodak Easyshare and a Sony Cybershot. Probably the Kodak took the best pictures in automatic mode and the Sony took a little more effort, but neither of these cameras lasted more than 2 years before they went totally defunct.
I'm pretty impressed so far with the Rebel but am not familiar with Canon's lineup in Point and Shoots. Not necessarily looking for a Canon but would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,.
