Through the glass. The one end was recently cleaned so that was a great surprise!

Good captures but the black jerseys lack detail. Have you tried exposure compensation to try and get a bit of detail in camera, o shadow/highlight in photoshop?

Not yet but it is worth trying. The lighting is very poor so it will be tough to get detail out of the solid blacks.

Should be embedded in the images still but they are all pretty much like this:
Canon 40D
70-200 2.8 L
320th of a second
2.8
ISO 1600
Manual mode
AI Servo - Center point only

I use the same stuff but mine always comes out noisy...do you use noise ninja? Do you PP?

My basic work flow for hockey photos is to do the following:
adjust levels
adjust curves
save as a master copy
resize to appropriate size for intended purpose
unsharpen mask
if being display on the web convert to sRGB.

At some point I would like to try noise ninja or some other noise software but I have yet to get any experience with them. From shooting hockey I have learned that the closer you are to a perfect exposure, which in a lot of rinks can be tough, the less noise in the final product.

what do you do to the curves to adjust?

I typically will add a tiny bit more contrast by moving the bottom left portion of the curve to the right by 4 or 5 positions over and then maybe brighten the image by moving the middle to the left and up a touch. If that causes the ice to blow out I will move the far right end of the curve down a touch to bring the whites back down a touch.

Looks like you have some good shots in there. I see that we shoot from the same locations a good bit. I'll have to take a closer look through more of your shots tomorrow.

IMO shots are nice but it seams that the WB is not well calibrated. The color of the players face is strange, maybe too cold. I know is ice hockey but a little more from warm color would benefit the photos
