Can an Apple Cinema display with DVI be connected to a VGA card in a PC?
If so, what adapter is required? Or do I need a DVI card?

I see MAC have a DVi to VGA adapter , but it is for connecting to DVI out of a Macbook to a VGA monitor. I need the reverse of this.
I asked the local MAC dealer who could not answer my question.
The manual for the 23" display advises go to www.apple.com/support/displays (http://www.apple.com/support/displays) and search for article 301066.
No surprise with the search results: 0 results found for 'artnum=301066'

So can anybody do Apple's job for them and educate me please.

The DVI connector used on the desktop Macs and the ACDs is the same as that used on the PC so if you get a regular DVI to VGA adapter, you should be able to connect the ACD to your PC. You don't have to get that converter from Apple. You can get it from any store that sells a DVI to VGA adapter.

Thanks Leo,
I notice Belkin have a fairly inexpensive adapter:

Belkin Pro Series VGA to DVI- Digital Video Interface Adapter (DVIF/HDDB15M)

Too easy :)

Just make sure you get the right sex for the adapters. VGA on PC to VGI on monitor would be different from VGI on PC to VGA on monitor.

Let me clarify that. The ACD has a male VGI connector. The PC would have a female VGA connector. So, what you would need is an adapter that has a female VGI connector on one end a male VGA connector on the other end.

[EDIT: Oops. Just looked at the part number for the Belkin adapter you mentioned above and it looks like that's exactly what you want. :)

Cheers.
I have made that mistake a few times...

PC card has female connector , so I will need Male VGA to Female DVI.

I found this one too:

So they are a common item. Shame the Apple shop could not tell me that.
