I have a couple of questions about printing pics. Should I be trying to raise the resolution on a picture to get better PRINT quality. I have a 2048 x 1536 picture at 180 resolution. WHen I raise the resolution( with PS) , the picture size increase dramatically. What is the optimal print resolution for printing photos. After the pic is taken, what can be done to make a good print?

Also, If I am going to crop or resize (smaller) a picture that I intend to print, should I increase the resolution first?

I am using a G1 and PS7.

THanks

Randal,

"Optimal" resolution for most inkjets tends to be between 240 and 300 ppi. You can check your printer's manual, or just use 300 and you won't go wrong.

An easy way to crop and resize at the same time is to use the cropping tool. After you select the tool you'll notice several input boxes at the top of the screen. Set width and height to your desired dimensions (8x10, 4x6, etc.) and set resolution to 300ppi. Then crop your image and it's ready to sharpen and print.

Cheers,
