I've been tracking the MKII on B&H for some time and I got an email today that it was in stock. Quickly, I called to confirm and placed my order. $4595.45 with next day shipping. I had planned to buy it locally, it would have been $4683.30 with HI state tax but my dealer didn't know when next his shipment would be arriving. Feel kinda bad though. My dealer has always been very helpful and calls whenever new stuff comes in (like a demo 20D). What should I tell him when he calls to let me know my MKII has arrived? I know he has others on his waiting list.

IMO, YOU should call HIM and just let him know he doesn't have to keep an eye out for your MKII. That way he won't be gun shy if you ask him to take interest in another endeavor and he doesn't have to tell his other clients that one has already been allocated.

Congratulations. If you love the feel of a well made camera in your hands, then you are in for a treat.

Only 1 problem CDS, he knows my girl friend and if she buys me any camera equipment she gets it from him.

I was in a similar position, I had one on order for months with my usual retailer, I then managed to source one from B&H. I called my retailer, explained what I had done and there was no problem at all they refunded my deposit and wished me luck. Mind you I was very very high on a 200+ waiting list with them.
You will love the camera

Congrats, i really wish i could afford it...my day will come though.
If your dealer feels insulted and gets angry about how you spend your money then he isnt a dealer i'd want to do buisness with.
Explain to him the situation, i'm sure he'll understand.

By all means, let your dealer know right away. you can soften the blow by ordering a 100-400 IS L, a 16-35 L and a 580EX from him. You know you're going to need them anyway within three days of getting the MkII.
