Has Exhibit Engine development stopped? I haven't stopped by in about 6-8 months and it looks like things are getting stagnant.

Progress?

After 2.02 there are no real updates.

Some people (like my self) posted some modifiactions in the EE topics. These can be helpfull to modify your site.

And we all know Pekka is a realy bussy man, so we just have to be patience and then in the end he will give is an other (big) update.

Next thing I'll post will be installer. Then something more. But if you look for some app that gets lots of updates EE 2 will not be it. One reason is that it works really nicely as it is (no pressing reasons to update), other reason is my lack of time, one more reason is that when I add something I want to test it well and it must be a logical part of the whole (not a quick feature) - that takes time.

Pekka was posting the news about the installer for version 2.02 almost half a year ago, and unfortunately it is not available yet. I have managed to install EE2 by updating from the old versions.

EE2 seems to be very nice and precisely what I want. However, will EE2 also be maintained and updated in the future?

What I will do is to keep EE running on this server, and add features which I see important. And I will share updates of course.

Some things I consider important:

- installer (yes it will come!)
- user upload capability (outside admin)
- users editing photo pages' texts with AJAX (outside admin).
- fixing some style CSS.
- fix remaining SQL errors resulting from random XSS attempts.
- EE CMS (EE custom pages)
- integrate TinyMCE (http://wiki.moxiecode.com/index.php/TinyMCE:Index) to admin text editors.

I have really considered making EE open source, but then again I suspect it means bloatware and design decisions that pleases many but are big compromises. I do not want to put EE into hands of people who do not have UI design skills and visions but are more interested in coding standards, classes objects and bloating code. from what I've seen to happen to many programs I fear will happen to EE, if it were Open Source.

Thank you for the reply Pekka.

I would like to provide feedback how important and desirable I find these features:
1) installer (most important, people waiting already long time for that)
2) fixing issues (style CSS, SQL) (I consider fixing issues to be more important than new features)
3) support of custom pages including editor
4) user upload and editing

Thank you for all the support. I just hope that there would be more users for EE2, more active discussions in this forum, more customizations, and a few more maintenance releases.

Pekka, this is wonderful software...I am still using 1.5 as it works well and I do not want to lose the albums already setup...when do you think you will release the install for 2.2, we know you are one busy guy, but seems like it has been a year ...again, I am just curious.
Thanks
