Photography has always just been a hobby of mine. But over the last couple years I have received interest in my photos. I started selling some in the gift shop where I work. I was then asked to show my photos in a local art gallery, which also sold several. So I decided to create my own web site, and knowing nothing about computers or web design made that task very interesting :). Since I launched it, I have been getting more hits, and have had several requests for photos from it.

I have been printing my photos at home, and only able to go up to 8x10. Recently I have gotten requests for much larger prints. The last one was for a 18x24 print. I went to a local photo shop and was not happy with the results. The photo was one I have printed many times at home and the colors are bright. The print from the shop was much darker, loosing the intensity of the colors. It also seemed pricey at $35.

What are others using for printing services? There seems to be a tone of them out there (York Photo, Snapfish, mpix, exposure manager.....)

Is my previous experience with printing something I will find with online services, or was that maybe due more to the fact that the photos shop I went to does not know how to print?

Thanks
Chris

or was that maybe due more to the fact that the photos shop I went to does not know how to print? It's very possible.

Anyone ever have print quality issues with small shops ? (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=325056)

I have used MPix for some things (I can only print to 16x22 at home) and have been very happy with the work from them, and they tend to be pretty quick. I always prefer to print at home, but if I its something I can not do, then I use MPix.

Thanks for the info. I went with mpix and was very happy with the results. The photo looked great, and it was here the next day.
