my first attempt at shooting a concert with my XTI with the 17-85mm lens.

good try. but if I were you I would upload my pics on flickr or deviantart or my own server because photobucket always ruins image quality.

I have never had a problem with photobucket personally.

i shot most of these shot in M mode with an iso 800 and 1600 without the flash, and the ones with flash i used iso 200 with the +/- at -2...

Cool shots, i would def recomend getting a flash. I have the xti with the kit lens and the 430EX made all the difference.

Ohh and i love stones throw records.

Use high ISO even when using flash. That way you capture some ambient.
I wouldn't use the flash unless you absolutely need it.

The non flashed images look way better then the flashed ones IMO (technical issues like focus and motion blur aside)

thank for the input guys. I am looking at getting the 430ex soon, and yes i totally agree the the non-flash images look way better than the flash ones.

peanut butter wolf, madlib, karrim riggins, and aribian night played

and one more thing, would the nifty fifty be a better lens for concerts and such?
