if you use PS CS, you have options to choose quality of JPEG, from 12 downwards, which one do you use and why?

I came across an article before, it was for a sport publication and i remember it somehow mentioned all images should be saved at quality "8" before send back to photo editor and it mentioned reason for that, but i can't remember whatsoever.

any help, please?

Depends on my end use. Coming from C1 LE I go for 100% quality (no compression).

From PS CS, if I am going to prints between 10 and 12 (very high quality). For web, generally I select a quality setting of 5 or 6.

Anything else generally introduces too many artifacts for my tastes.
