Heres a little fly i took today and a 100% crop of its eye

Normal problem with these is they often fly off with the pre-flash so you get a shot of the bottom of their legs when the main flash goes off :)

Pretty good shot there, nice detail. Surprised that it hung around for the flash - as Brian says, they usually take off at the slightest hint of flash.

Haha with my very 'to the point' stalking skills i usually dont even get my camera up before theyv dissapeared! this is actually the first shot ive got of one of these!

No if you are using TTL flash it does a pre flash to measure the light so it can get the exposure right for the main flash.

O royt o then:D does ne1 else have problems with the (i call it torch mode) on their MT-24 flash? i no it goes off after like 30 sec anyway but every time i use mine the first time i turn it on it goes off after about 3 seconds, kind of anoying

I've just checked mine and it's 19 sec's every time.

Lovley shot Lance, I find these flys a real pain to photograph as they always fly off when the flash fires and get a shot of nothing or a very blurry fly.
