OK, I'm amazed at this. We're on the 4th iteration of the G series, and it's one of the few cameras that Canon don't make a housing for. Not only that, but in a recent diving magazine, Canon are sponsoring a competition and the back page add has a G5 advertised.
Anyone care to guess why we've not seen a housing. There must be the demand. Cheapest I can find is an Ikelite for $600.

I've been looking also. I started a thread awhile back on this subject and had a few leads ,but still not what I'm looking for. I'll have to look it up again find the links.

I had the same question about the underwater housing for the G's...
I found this the other day: http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/5can_g3.html
A little pricey IMO however as of yet, this is it. Seems very robust though.
Cheers!

Yeah, one of the guys I dive with has that housing for his olympus (same box, slightly different button arrangement). It's a great housing, but so expensive.
I just can't figure out why canon don't make one. They make them for other cameras if similar size, so it's not a size problem. The G series are so popular they'd sell loads with the only competition being in the $600 range. I just don't understand, it seems so logical.
I'd love to be able to get an answer from Canon.

Take a look at the EWA-Marine products:
It looks like a ziploc bag, but it is supposed to keep your camera dry up (or better: down) to 10 meters depth
http://www.ewa-marine.de/pictures/products/d-cg3_k-m.jpg
Suggested retail price in Germany is EUR 140 (US$ 160?).
If you want to go deeper, There's another version for the pro-1 that might also fit and that is rated for 30 meters. (EUR 199)

Thanks for the info.
Aquatech looks interesting, but the buttons would be a bit of a pain to use with gloves on. The uwatech bags aren't rated deep enough. I regularly dive 30-40m, and wouldn't dive any housing that wasn't rated to 40.
What bugs me so much is that canon have housings for things like the S1 IS http://www.helixcamera.com/UW/canon/wpdc20.html for $180 rated to 40m. It wouldn't take much to make a similar housing for the G series.
I know i'm whingeing, but I just don't get it. Why, Canon, why?
