Hello all,

I know this has been discussed a million of times (still using search engine myself), but I just wanted to get some opinions on selling photographs to newspapers.

I just covered the White Party the other weekend (Saturday) and I was amazed that an event as huge as this only made it into the paper on the following Wednesday. And the photo they used was very crappy. (Not bragging, but I had a hundred more that were 10x better)

Obviously, I am going to have to do work ahead of time making connections and such so that I can contact them about future use and contributions.

I am now the only official photographer for Rupaul's South Florida Starbooty Weekend Dec 14-16th. There will be two performances in seperate locations and a book signing at Barnes and Nobles. So in addition to the South Florida Lifestyles magazine I do work for, I will have material that I can offer for sale to the Sun-Sentinel newspaper. The two performances are private events (fundraisers by invite only) so I am guranteed to be the only person with a camera there. (The invites specifically say No Photography on them)

How would I go about offering my photographs for sale/use in the media? Also, **warning newbie question upcoming** how much would I expect to price them at?

Many thanks in advance for your advice and postings here.

Ok seriously now... you (and Curtis) always post the most amazing links. Do you have this board plugged in via USB to your head or something?

(Or maybe I just do lousy searches with bad key words)

Many thanks, reading over them now.

Having nearly 24,700 posts, I think PhotosGuy as a Mod knows what he's doing and has had a little practice! Thanks for the links!! I was wondering the same for mags so I'll do a search and see what I come up with on that one too.

: )

(Or maybe I just do lousy searches with bad key words) Forum search links don't last long, so I don't post them.

If you do a "Advanced" forum KEYWORD search in "Search Titles Only" for a phrase in "KEYWORD(s)" with the quotes if it's a logical progression of words, (like +"depth of field") you will find a lot of help. This will put the threads that contain both at the top of the list, with threads that have one word or the other lower down.

Try it without the quotes for less related things like quartz temperature

And yes, I had that saved too! :D
