Hey All -

I am looking for a decent camera book bag... I hate to even mention what I am using right now but...... I have a Camel-Back hiking book bag.. Large Ziplock bag and a tee-shirt... Yes I know...

So I am looking to pick up something a little bit better :)

What is everyone's thoughts of the Lowepro Rover aw ii?

Thanks!

www.cambags.com may be of some assistance to you! Have a browse to see how big the bags are and what you can fit in it.

I have this bag, and for its intended use it is great. Its main advantage is that it carries a fair bit of camera gear and still has room for some munchies and a jacket too. I use it all the time for day hikes as it also has really good support, both in the shoulder straps as well as the waist belt. The camera compartment is a bit of a pain to get in to, but does work quite well. The side mesh pockets are a bit short, I clip a biner to my water bottle and the pack to ensure it stays put. If you are looking for a pack for this type of use, I would highly recommend it. If you are looking for one to carry just camera gear, this would not be the best pick.

_aravena - I hope to get more gear down the road.. I would hate to buy something then need to upgrade to something bigger...

I do a lot of hiking and camping. I would be using this as my day pack. So having the extra storage would be great. How is the AW aspect of it?

Thanks!

The AW is nice, but still don't buy in planning. It never works out cause then you have a huge bag and who knows when you get more gear. I planned when I want to get something, it never happens. Although my 7MDH is a bit much for what I have, I know it will be filled and I use the space still for plenty other stuff. Though sometimes I do wish I had my 5MDH back.

Plan for some gear, not a alot. Still, Lowepro makes a great bag.

I am leaning towards this back because it looks to make a good day pack... I was even considering their waterproof bag that could hold a water pouch in it. But that one seems pretty expensive...

I have used the AW cover a bunch of times, it works great. It is basically a rain cover for the entire pack.

This does make sense. Even if you need to get a larger bag into the future, you will still use the smaller one a bunch too.

In fact, I just bought myself a nice smaller bag meant for urban walk-abouts as my other two bags were larger than I needed and had way to many straps on them. I just bought the Lowepro Flipside 300 (http://www.it-wire.nu/members/foc66/attachments/SS_Flipside_A4_HI.pdf). It carries one camera, 4 additional lenses, my travel tripod, a flash and some misc little stuff and is a nice compact size.

If you are looking for something for school and photo stuff, I would look at something like this, kind of expensive, but worth it IMO. The one that I would be considering is The Customary Barge.
