Hi,
I went to Chicago this summer (16 hours by car) right after getting there, a friend and I aimed for the beach. I took this one.
I would like to know if it does anything for you.

Those pictures have been taken with 10D + 28-135, and tricked a bit with PS.
Any comments will be appreciated.

I like the color editing. Would it be possible to brighten the sand?

nah, ditch the second one, the first is the winner for me. I like the moody colours, gives it some punch and emotion

Thanks.... I do agree thant the first one is better. My father in law, who is a photographer doesn't like it at all... so I started to doubt in myself.
I sure can lighten the sand.... let me try.

Look .. at this scale I cannot read the sign ... there are no lifeguards .. so the "subject" does not add any punch to the beautful lake view.
The beauty here IMHO lies in the gorgeous blues in the water and sky. Just liik at that thin line of turquoise out in the Lake. The light is great. The red of the lighthouse ! The variety of cloud layers, etc.
I would have stood on the chair and zoomed-in with my G2 - 3x lens "hoping" for a great take of your following image.

I haven't seen that.... Nice crop, I love it.
But yes, the beach was open.. we went on the chair but got told to get down. So I hadn't time to try anything.
Here it goes... directly from the original
