This is one of the best tries I had...I know the Smiley face could probably have been lit up better...but the lighter was getting extremely hot after being lit so long for so many shots.

I don't know if this is very creative or not but I'll play! :D

I took me a while to find my old Zippo but after some searching in an old sock drawer, I managed to find it! It's an old one from the early 70's with a lot of mileage on it...figured I'd dress it up with an older watch and decorative ash tray.

Time to find mine. It's in some drawer since I've quit smoking and I was accused of still smoking when I kept carrying it around. I just liked fire.

I really like your second shot, what lens and setting did you use?

I'm just a newb, with the typical newb Rebel xti setup. I'm looking at buying a 50mm f1.8 soon (someone tells me to wait until christmas so..)

I used my 100mm macro lens @ F/5.6 , 1/20th second exposure in Aperture Priority mode. The lighting was provided by a home made light bed box so all the light came from underneath only.

I'm very much a noob too but I have a real desire to learn and develop and this place is a great resource for doing exactly that!
