Extender EF 2x II

Does anyone know when the model "II" came out and what improvements were made over the previous 2x?

Any Web articles or comparisons available?

I did find this info on the Web. Still, any additional thoughts, opinions, or info would be appreciated.

"The new EF 1.4x II extender replaces the previous (and highly regarded) EF 1.4x extender. New on the EF 1.4x II is added weather-resistance to the front and rear mount surfaces to match the level provided by the EOS-1v and the new IS super-telephoto lenses. New internal anti-reflection construction improves contrast even when shooting in heavy backlit conditions."

This is a good review and has made me stay away from the 2x II. Not in a negative light, only because for the money I'd rather wait for even better since I have a 1.4x and it works so well.
