I like the Bogen Manfrotto 681B. It's not light, it's not small, it will double as a weapon when combined with 488RC2 ball head.

I agree that there's no "best" monopod, at least without fully defining the requirements for it.
I prefer and use the Manfrotto 680B, topped with a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head.

Have no idea what the "best" would be as they are for different uses.
But I am probably getting a 681B for my 30D + 100-400

I have a 30d and a 70-200mm f/2.8 lense and occasionally swap out with a 24-70mm f/2.8
I want a monopod that can support that weight and also want a ball head for vertical shots
