Exif Data / HDR

Is it possible to keep the EXIF data in an HDR photo ? i use Photomatix with basic options on and all of my HDR photos loose their EXIF data. i assume this is due to the fact you merge multiple photos.

Any one know as i submitted a photo to the POTN book 2 comp and have been told my photo does not contain EXIF data and is therefore in contravention of the rules ! - any one out there able to advise as i have only been doing HDR photos for a few weeks ?

EDIT - have just checked the EXIF data - it containss some data but not the full range of EXIF data a normal photo contains.

I had the same issue and asked what to do about it. The response I got was to just send one of the photos from the shots that contains the EXIF info. They only need it for filing puposes and will still use the submitted HDR photo for the book if it is chosen.

Thanks for that - i have just reread the PM i got and that is exactly what they said - the only thing was i got the PM litrally 3 minutes before i had to catch the morning train to work this morning and in the mad rush to get out the door i scan read the PM and then posted this thread, so i guess i have to appologise .....

I became aware of this problem after uploading photos to flickr where the EXIF data is easy to see. It used to be that there was no EXIF data, but I believe that as of some recent update to Photomatix, it does retain any EXIF data common to all of the exposures composited together.

So, now I see things like Aperture, Focal Length, ISO which were consistent between each bracketed shot. Things like time, however change for each shot and so are not incorporated...at least that's my guess as to why some information shows up and not all.

It would be nice to have a preference to choose, say, the earliest shot as the basis for any information not common to every exposure.

Thats a good idea - exif data of the selected photo - maybe photomatix will do an upgrade :)
