As long as I can get out and bang away on the shutter I'm a happy camper.

I've been focussing alot on wildlife lately but landscapes are certainly a close second.

Damn near anything that gets me outside. Mostly I've been going after birds, closely followed by butterflies. But if it's outdoors I'll take a chance.

Practically anything. Where I am at, the choices are rather limited. Been shooting water sports lately.
Tends to like abstract though.

Birds, landscapes while hiking, air shows, dogs (you mean that squeaky-toys aren't standard equipment in everyone's camera bags?)

Architecture, mainly projects I've worked on (as structural engineer) and old buildings, stage productions (dance and musical theatre), portraits, family, some nature and landscape, anything else that makes an interesting shot. :)

When I read through this thread I couldn't get the song "Soemthing to Shoot" by Chris Wall out of my head. It is a funny song and you should give it a listen, it is country but worth the pain and suffering. Here is a sample from the song (1st verse).

I was born and raised way out west
But the thing that I like 'bout livin' here best
It ain't the mountains, the valleys, the hats or the boots
It's havin' plenty of guns and something to shoot.

Now for my answer... girls, animals, musical instruments, plus what ever else stumbles through my viewfinder.

Cheers,

Or just about anything
I like sports and wildlife, but I'll take pictures of anything light shines on if it looks good to my eye

For me it's a tie between attractive women and rock and roll well, live bands and performers generally. Then follows classic cars, macros, then architecture.

Landscapes, no matter how I try, just don't work for me. My "creative eye" just doesn't seem to work that way.

Birds (I'm also into herons) ... landscapes that include water ... architecture

Shoot? Easy - people who irritate me.

But, if I was using a camera - wildlife. :D

Here's my list of favorite things to shoot.

1. Airplanes/Airports - I wish I had a better camera with more zoom so that I could get good close-ups of planes. It's rather easy to get in trouble for taking pictures of planes (although it's not illegal). So I think it's probably on par with widlife photography sometimes with all the cat and mouse stuff I go through for my aviation pictures. I do however respect people are their right to feel secure and all that, so you'll never see me in the middle of a terminal or a busy area taking pictures.

2. Architecture - My favorite in this line of photography are large bridges. (also another subject of which you sometimes have to worry about security people. I was shooting a picture of a tall bridge from a pier that ran parallel with it and a security guard encountered me to tell me that the only thing people are allowed to do is fish. Nevermind, I enjoy fishing but I didn't see how they didn't mind a bunch of people around drinking beer and having 3yr old kids with them in the elements at 1am is acceptable either. I also like taking pictures of tall buildings.

3. People - Friends, myself, an the like. It makes them feel cool and the results usually are too.

I'm into landscapes, mostly. It's nice to get outside, even if you don't take any pictures!

Hey Andrew,

Would you mind linking me or posting pictures up of orchids? I love them! I read that one book, darn, I can't really recall. It was the book that was featured in the movie Adaptation? It was a decent book.

If you have nice high res ones, I'd love to get some from you so I can use as my wallpaper, if thats okay w/ you.

Cheers,

Amber

I usually shoot myself in the foot whenever I open my mouth!

But I prefer cars and boats and planes, although I will have a try at anything that looks like it might make a good picture.

I agree, I truly suck at taking pictures of cars.

My number one subject is nature: landscapes, animals (at the zoo or in the wild). I also like to shoot people, for example at events, such as my summer carnival photos (http://jesper.fotopic.net/c246947.html) - a good photo with people most often is more interesting than a photo without people, but I find it harder to make a *good* photo with people... I don't like making photos of random strangers on the street.

see, after hanging out around here for a bit, I am starting to REALLY like candid photos, but they seem so hard!!!! blah..

I think cars i'm okay at, and just random stuff I see (buildings, bridges, whatever else you find in sydney)

some of you guys here are just  wish I had even a tenth of your guys' and gals' skills

Architecture, Abstracts, Animals. Hey, triple A. (I'm including all animals in that category...including humans :? ) I also love candids, but i do not live in an interesting town like new your city where they are "easy" to come by. I just need to get my lazy a$$ out and work at it, there are plenty of interesting subjects near me....
