Can anyone recommend a good provider of photographic breakdown insurance?

For some reason I seem to kill digital cameras. I don't know why; I look after them well, they look perfectly undamaged on the outside but the innards just stop working.

So, I take out extended warranties on cameras when I buy them. I didn't take one on my 350D, however, and would like to get one now. I tried Domestic and General, they quoted £111 PER YEAR!

Does anyone know somewhere that has sensible prices for breakdown insurance for cameras in the UK?

regards,
/alan

Hi Alan,

I insured my gear with Photoguard (http://www.photoguard.co.uk/) but fortunately i've never had to claim so I can't report on how good they are. I think they're backed by pavillion insurance. I only paid £25 for the year because i only had a 400D and a couple of lenses.

There are others about, trying googling camera insurance or photographic insurance and you'll get a few options. Trouble is i'm sure like me you'll have no idea who's good or not which is why you're asking for recommendations.

My insurance is up for renewal at the end of this month so i'd be interested on hearing other replies on this too.

Thanks, FlexiPack - I'll be sure to check into them. However, on first glance it seems they cover theft and accidental damage, but not simple breakdown :(
