taking photos underwater

I'm thinking of investing in one of the Ewa Marine plastic cases for taking photos with my G3 whilst snorkelling on holiday in the red sea next month. I'd welcome any views on how easy they are to use (pressing buttons etc.) Also the answer to this question - does the autofocus work underwater? I was hopelessly bad at manual focusing when I last tried with a manual focus sea & sea SLR.
