Hi - I'm looking to buy a photography magazine that will teach me technique and give me ideas. I don't want to pay for a magazine that is just bursting to the seams with adverts and kit reviews.

Can anyone recommend a magazine to me that is available in the UK and that fits in with the above requirement?

Thanks,
Dubcat

I've always loved Practical Photography.......the UK version.

Checkout Photography Monthly which is much improved since its launch and in my opinion is now beter than Practical Photography - I subscribe to both.

EOS magazine is also good for all things EOS

I also buy Practical Photography and Photography Monthly. Both are very good but I am leaning towards Photography Monthly as my One purchase.

I've noticed that many UK mags follow this model of extremely busy collages of adverts, articles, sidebars, reviews, etc. from cover to cover. The two that I have settled on are Digital Photo Pro (subscribe) and Shutterbug (pick up at bookstore if the issue's thematic content is of interest). I don't know if either are available in the UK. Both are very informative and usually have fairly in-depth articles.

I read both Practical photography amd photography monthly and agree with a pervious reply, photography monthly has got a lot better and in some areas is better than PP. PP sister mag Digital photo is also worth a look at.

Photography Monthly is now a very good publication with a good variety of content - good film and digital coverage and increasing equipment reviews that seem to be more neutral and geared towards the user of kit - great mag shots and features as well.

Photography Monthly definitely. You seem to get a lot more reading for your money and the articles are great.

I used to spend a fortune on magazines, but whittled it down to this one.

My 1st choice is "Digital Photographer" which always has interesting articles to read and seems to last longer to read cover to cover than other mags. My 2nd choice is "Photography Monthly".
