What aspects of this photo did you want to have critiqued ?
What is it about this photo that "promotes" your group?

Hmm, although I believe you're trying to get a "random" approach here as if the camera didn't exist. I'd suggest that they actually look at the camera. And there'a plane there, I figured it would be more entertaining if you had taken a picture of them loading band equiptment into it, like they're going somewhere! haha

Heh, I wouldn't listen to them from first glance. They look rather trendy and I think appearance can have a bit to do with the music.

The band looks seperate from their environment (not that they are outcast, or don't fit in, just uninterested)
The idea of loading band equipment into the plane is a good idea. Could also just be hanging around the plane (laying under it, under the wings, holding the propeller...) Could also lighten the back ground a bit, the dark hair is blending into the background. The planes wing is dissecting the guys heads (ouch!)
The fuzzy strip at the bottom is not good (accidental?)
Why not load the equipment into a truck and have a jam session in the hanger. (Hangering out.... :) )

I like fashion photography because it extracts the most distinctive features from its subjects. Band/Postergirl photos use the same techniques. There is one thing they have that this one doesn't---focus. Figures in group photos of this type always have a singular focus (either the camera, or an object included in the sceene). These guys are all looking different directions. Is there a point in that style? If so is it somehow related to a song or album title? :?

well the blur was intentional.. its a x blur... its not supposed to be normal..... ive seen a lotta pro photographers doing it... thats why i tried it out and i made the colors intentionally.. in photoshop made the back green cut the blues down.. thats the color grade i wanted to give to that picture...

So I'm certainly not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but overall, I think the picture looks very "band promo"-esque. In other words, if I saw it, say, in album liner notes or on a poster, I wouldn't find the picture out of place. I think the plane and its position relative to the band looks pretty nifty, too.
My only two notes on the photo are that I agree with others, that the blur at the bottom looks unintentional and is distracting. Also, the gentleman in the back looks a bit spaced out and as though perhaps one of his eyes is closed. It might be the hair, though.

I agree with the others on the blur... As far as the background, not too bad. From an emotional standpoint, they are grouped too close together, creating a sensation of being lost and afraid. May sound silly, but think about it. I would spread them apart, not look at the camera, and appear distant from each other, building a sense of individuality and power. But that's just me.

I don't think he was trying to convey anything. That picture is a casual here is the band photo for the inside of the cd. I think everyone expects them to be playing cards or washing a car in the photo. I'm not down with the blur effect though. You should have one guy staring at something just past the camera, two guys talking to each other with their eyes and the last guy slightly out of focus. See how that works. Good work!
