I have a Sandisk and a PNY 256meg card. They both do not mention the speed on them or the cases. Any ideas on how to find this info out?
Thanks.
Yes I know its most likely gonna be slow.. just how slow. lol

Well for start there's a CF database on
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007
that lists the speed of many CF cards per dslr.
You can see the speed depends highly on the type of camera it is used in.
(for example the popular Canon 300D is terribly slow on most CF cards, in contrast with the D70 that squeezes every bit of performance out of any card. If I'd have found this out myself earlier, I wouldn't have been tricked into buying a costly Sandisk Ultra II for my 300D...)
I wouldn't know how to measure the in-camera performance of a CF, but when using your USB card reader connected to your desktop, any benchmarking tool could be used to rate.

It sounds like you have two "standard" speed CF cards.. PNY I don't think makes a "fast" card and Sandisk.. (and all other manufactureres of high speed cards) do take the time toi tell you right on the card if it is one of there fast cards. (all except Transcend that is.. which used to NOT mark there 30X )
So if it doesn't say 45X or ULTRA .. then it is the standard speed.
