Aloha all. Here are a couple I shot of the house and of a globe. Camera - S5is, manual mode, no flash. I know the s5 is known to have a grainy effect in night shots but is there anyway I can adjust to eliminate as much as possible.

You can set the ISO speed to 80 instead of the ISO 200 and ISO 1600 that was used above. That will give the least possible noise but will require longer exposure time.

Then, in order to shoot long exposures, use a tripod and the self timer. I assume you used a tripod on the above shots since your shutter speeds were 1.3" and 1/3" on the above shots. I know the IS is a great stabilizer, but for shutter speeds that long or longer, it is likely that there will be some motion blur.

I would recommend 1/10" to 1/30" as the slowest hand-held shutter speeds to be used with the IS lenses, depending on the focal length of the lens. The longer the focal length, the shorter the exposure time.

The advantage of IS lenses is also dependant upon whether it is a first, second, or third generation design.
