Help, I can't get the zoombrowser to find my camera. When my EOS 10D is connected I can download from Microsoft but the zoombrowser says it cannot find my camera. What can I do?

You might want to state your OS and version of Zoombrowser.

I had the same problem with 300D in XP. The ZB was that of G3 though.

Did you ever consider to install the software that came with your 300D camera?
I mean, it is just a thought!

Hi Bob,
Been thinking about that very hard, because I'm worried that the 300D's ZB might mess up the directory structure of the old ZB. Do you if that's the case or not.
Thanks

I've over-installed a number of times between upgrades and newer cameras. They did caution to back up the database structure when going from 2.x to 3, but other than that there's no problem.

The "directory structure" is based on the folders in windows and where the photos are in what folders. To put it more clearly...no, it wont.

I might be reading this post all wrong...
but I suggest a card reader! Much faster. Less problems. Nicely priced.

I use WIN98SE, which is quite a bit different than XP as far as the camera connection goes.
WIN98SE uses TWAIN standards.
But the important thing for my usage is that Canon says the camera and PC communicate while it is connected. They also say pulling the camera connection or turning off the camera can mess up your computer. IT DOES, LOL. They say "turn off the driver". But they don't say how to do that.
I found that using the Control Panel I found Cameras and Scanners icon. It will show what drivers are loaded. When I am done with my camera I immediately remove it from the Cameras and Scanners section, which comfortably removes the camera. Next time I want to use the camera the PC sees the Camera as a new USB device and re-adds it and everything ok.
I have no idea how it works in XP. Sorry.

Look at the "Communication mode" setting in the menu on the camera. Check if your camera is in "Normal" or "PTP" communication mode. It should be on "Normal" to work properly with the Canon software.
